Could Jesus Hit a Curveball?
Every baseball player eventually faces the same humbling moment. The pitcher winds up, the ball leaves his hand, and halfway to the plate it stops behaving like a baseball should. The pitch drops, bends, and disappears under the bat. The hitter swings anyway and comes up empty.

Strength in Uncertainty
Two things are true about uncertainty. First, it can be intimidating. The mystery of not knowing what will happen is often scary. In times where happiness and security hang in the balance, uncertainty about the outcome gives you the feeling of free-falling through life, forced to wait and anticipate a painful impact when the situation resolves.

When You're Overwhelmed
Psalm 42 is a passage that I recommend Christian people revisit on a regular basis. Not only have I have preached from the psalm many times in my years of ministry, but I have visited it in personal times of need, confusion, and desperation. I know from personal experience that this passage is very relatable when you are feeling overwhelmed.

Seven Reasons to Not Fear Death
How about you? Do you fear death? In a sense, we are all uncertain about our relationship with death, for none of us knows when is our appointment to die. Additionally, none of us are promised tomorrow. If we are not to fear death, then, that confidence must be rooted in something more substantial than just a will to ignore or swallow our fear. Personally, I am not afraid to die. Such a statement is not an arrogance; it is biblical Christianity.

Applying the Bible Rightly
This first rule of Bible interpretation—"context determines interpretation”—is also the first principle of Bible application. In the realm of application, though, there is an additional principle to follow. The second rule of Bible application is to understand the situation accurately before applying any Scripture. In other words, we cannot apply the Bible until we know what’s really going on.

Christians Aren't Victims: Overcoming Victim Mentality
Christians Aren't Victims An unfortunate and often devastating fact of life is that people will sometimes hurt you. They may mistreat and misunderstand you. Our world is full of villains, and that’s why there are many victims. But even if someone legitimately hurts you deeply, you must not stay in a victim mindset. The victim mindset will hurt you far worse than whatever the villains in your life have done to you. A person who tells himself that he is a victim is also a perso

How to be Strong in Uncertainty
How to be Strong in Uncertainty Uncertainty can be intimidating. Not knowing what’s going to happen is often scary. You feel like you’re free-falling through life. Maybe your uncertainty is financial. “How am I going to pay the bills? What if I lose my job?” Maybe your uncertainty is relational. “What if my spouse leaves me in death or through divorce? Or what if the relationship with one of my children deteriorates?” Human relationships can sometimes be extremely volatile an

No Limits!
No Limits Even good things need limits. There are many activities that are reasonable, but only when they’re done in moderation. The same habits that are beneficial in moderate doses can destroy your life when you do them in excess. For example, eating is necessary to fuel the body, but when it becomes excessive and regularly indulgent, eating not only affects your body composition, but also can wreak havoc on your overall health and hormones. What about getting sunlight? The
